My Jar Arrived!

Hello Everyone,

I'm participating in a jar swap over at City Crafter Party Blog. I swapped a jar of goodies with Sylvia Nelson (you can visit her blog here). She sent some lovely things. Here you see some bling and lovely silk binding. I was about to hunt down some of that. The ric-rac and velvet ribbon are just wonderful.

Here is another pile of lovely items. Flowers and buttons, and stickers, and embellies, oh my!
And lastly, can you ever have enough sponges, brushes, and RED TAPE? I think not. Love the cute card that she made.

Sylvia really outdid herself. She really knows what I like to work with. Thanks so much Sylvia. I'm going to have so much fun creating with the yummy goodies.
Thanks for the visit and happy swappin,

First Journal Entry

Hello everyone,

I made my first journal entry. I was inspired to do it because of a challenge being held at The Scrap Beach hosted by Kathryn. This journal entry is for Challenge #3. What does FEARLESS mean to you? On the front I have a quote by Martin Luther King Jr. I have stamped SILENCE lightly onto the background.

I put a picture of Martin Luther King Jr. with the word FEARLESS because that is what fearless looks like to me. The journaling, however, is about me remaining silent when I could have spoken out against hatred.

I know it's not very artsy for an art journal, but it is my first. I can only assume with more practice, it will be more art and less junque.
Thanks for the visit and happy journalin,

My Junque/Art Journal

Hello everyone,

This is one of the projects that I have been busy working on. This is my junque/art journal. I had seen some YT videos about them but was never really inspired to create one until I discovered the blog Autumns Antics. She created a journal using the same paper line that I had wanted to use to make something for myself. I immediately stopped what I was doing and created this. It is an 8x5 journal of pages, envelopes, and such. I haven't done any thing much with it yet. This is the cover, a recycled book cover. As you can see, it was The Good Earth.

I added a page from a notepad here. I will probably journal about a friend here.

This is a leftover piece I had from making tags that I added.

I cut the rose and cherry from an old calendar.

This is my favorite page because of the paper and the old postcard from Chicago.

This page has a large coin envelope. I can put stuff in it such as ticket stubs.

There are of course more pages than I can show you here. I haven't journaled anything yet. I will post pages as I do.
Thanks for the visit and happy journalin.

August Tag Swap

Hello everyone,

It's been awhile since I've posted anything but I have been busy creating. These are some photos of tags I created for the August Tag Swap hosted by Marie at Art Of Marie. The theme was nature and we could interpret that any way we wanted. I chose flowers as my them. We were also supposed to use scraps paper in out tags. This first photo shows some of the chipboard I had covered with some scraps.

This is a pile of flowers that I stamped on some scrap papers and papers with flowers on them.

This is the back of a finished tag. There will be two tags in the pocket but I wanted to show the saying on the pocket.

These are some of the tag fronts. I used some calendar pages that had photos of flowers. I edged the tags with white acrylic paint. The pockets on the back each match the front. I made a matching charm and sentiment as an embellishment. I started to put ribbon around the bottom but stopped because that took away from the graphic look I was going for.

If you want to see more of these tags, I did a sneak peak video on YouTube. You can find it at

Thanks for the visit and happy taggin,
Lela

More Birthday Cards

Hello everyone,

I've made some more birthday cards recently. This first one I did using watercolor techniques with Spiced Marmalade and Shabby Shutters DI. The first thing I did was to dye the vintage lace with Spiced Marmalade reinker. The background is a Close to My Heart paper as is the ribbon. You can't tell from this photo but the main flower is three layers thick. I also added some script to the background using Shabby Shutters DI and a Stampabilities script stamp.

On this second card I have used a watercolor technique that I rarely use, watercolor pencils. I used them to paint the cake and the sentiment. The cake stamp is CTMH. The papers are from Stampin Up as is the sentiment. I did some faux stitching using a white pencil and some edge distressing with a brown one.
That's it for now. Thanks for the visit and happy stampin.

My First RAK

Hello Everyone,

I received the greatest surprise in the mail...my first RAK. I was expecting a tag from Emily (click here to visit her blog) but she sent so much more. We both participated in Arlene's June Postcards from Paris tag swap. We each had a no show in our groups and I fell in love with her tag as soon as I saw it on Arlene's YT video. I contacted her right away about swapping. The tag is even more beautiful in person. Thanks Emily for swapping with me.

She sent some image tags and bling. I really love the chandelier drops. I've been wanting some of those.
She also sent some ledger paper, stickers that have a postal design, a feather and grunge board. I had never even seen grunge board in person until the tag swap. Now I have a piece to play with.

She also sent some 6x6 paper in creams, reds, greys and black (yummy combination) along with a doily and a vintage bag. Love 'em. The doily won't remain white and the bag may become something else. And ribbon, she sent ribbon.

This is just about my fave. She sent a bunch of flowers. Some she made herself using glimmer mist and stamping. She also sent a couple of stickpins.

Thank you so much Emily for sending me such a wonderful package. You are so generous. My head is spinning with all the ideas that these goodies have conjured up.
Thanks for the visit and happy scrappin.

Purple Passion

Hello everyone,

This is a birthday card I've created for a friend. I don't very often do monochromatic cards but I decided to give one a try. The background is a piece of felt I found ages ago on clearance at Hobby Lobby. It was already embossed. I sewed it onto a card made of Orchid Opulence (SU). The sentiment, including the silver bookplate is also by Stampin Up. The large lavender band I cut from a catalog cover and punched with a Martha Stewart lace edge punch. The clear buttons are from Close to My Heart. The ribbon is a Target find.

The paper flower I made by punching scallop circles from catalog pages in various shades of purple. The pearl brad is a Paper Studio, I think.
I will be entering this card in the 1-2-3 Challenge over at the Shabby Tea Room. You have to use 1 ribbon, 2 buttons and 3 punches. I have on this card the mauve ribbon, the 2 clear buttons, and I used a lace punch, a scallop punch and the punch for the sentiment.

Thanks for the visit and happy stampin. Comments appreciated.

My First YouTube Video

Hello Everyone,

Well, I did it, sort of. I uploaded my first YT video. It's not really a video. It is moving pictures of the mini I did for my friend Lisa. I used a movie maker program on my computer. I don't really like it because the video doesn't show the whole photos. It sort of cuts them in half. While I was putting the video together, it showed a preview in a very small preview box. I thought that the whole photos would be visible, but they're not. I also thought that music would be added because it talked about music in the creation phase, but nope. No music. There is a different movie maker program on my computer that is harder to use but I might try it again to see if I'm happier with the results. You gotta start somewhere right? (Hope I can purchase a digital camera with a video option soon.)

You can find it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nfqs4FttE9w

Thanks for the visit and happy filmmakin.
