Stars and Stripes Stamptacular Sunday Challenge

Hello Everyone,

Here is a card I made for the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge and it is also for my friend Dianne. I have been making a July 4th card for her for several years now. The challenge was to use stars and stripes. I decided to do a play on "Stars and Stripes Forever" by doing "Stars and Friends Forever."

I used paper by My Mind's Eye and The Paper Studio. To give the paper a more vintage look, I stamped over the striped paper with stamps from Tim Holtz The Journey. I inked the edges using Vintage Photo distress ink. Little bit of tearing going on, too.

The face is from Vintage Ladies by Hot off the Press and uses Chocolate Chip craft ink from Stampin' Up. Her starry crown is from the Printworks Collection Elegant Patterns. I stamped it with Fired Brick distress ink and embossed with UTEE. The Friends Forever is by Studio G and is stamped in Staz-On. The Friends is stamped on transparency.
I hope she likes it.
Thanks for stoppin in. Comments are appreciated.
Till next time, happy scrappin.

Metal Emboss Challenge

Hello Everyone,
This is an ATC I made for a challenge at ClothPaperScissors. The challenge was to use metal and something found around the house to create texture. I used a double layer of heavy duty aluminum foil as the base. I created the texture with the round end of a bamboo skewer. I then colored the metal with alcohol inks (cranberry, wild plum, denim and stream).

The stamped images were stmped onto transparency using Staz-On. The sentiment is backed with foil that I edged with alcohol inks. The stamps are from Flights of Fancy by Tim Holtz, Butterflies by Stampendous and Wingin' It by Technique Tuesday.

Thanks for the visit and happy stampin.

Hello Everyone,

Here are some photos of my tag for the June Tag Swap hosted by Arlene over at http://butterflykisseswithlove.blogspot.com/. Thanks Arlene for hosting. The theme was "Postcards from Paris." The challenge was vintage/collage. I chose to think of collage as layering of inks and stamps as opposed to gluing down stuff with mod podge. When I think vintage Paris, I think of can-can, Impressionist painters and tulle. So I decided to do an homage to Degas. (Love his work.) I created a postcard, from Paris of course, that I slipped into a pocket made of tulle and a strip of black velvet ribbon. I died the tulle with coffee to get a vintage feel.

This is the front view of the tag. I added a handmade rose made of tulle, some black bling, and some beaded trim. There is also a charm attached to the fibers. The fibers are tulle and black velvet ribbon. It reminds me of the hats that women wore during the late 1800s. The postcard uses stamps from Tim Holtz Regal Flourish and French Market, Hot Off the Press Small Paris and a postcard edge from Close to My Heart. I distressed the edges with Vintage Photo and Old Paper distress inks.

This is the front view of the tag itself. I created the tag using cereal boxes to which I added manilla folder paper to each side. I used Aged Mahogany and Brushed Corduroy distress inks. I stamped the background with Stampabilities Faded Background, Tim Holtz French Market, Inkadinkadoo Chadeliers and Hot Off the Press French Postcard stamps. I used Aged Mahogany distress ink and black Staz-On for stamping the images.
The back of the tag was distressed with Aged Mahogany. The window stamp is from Merry Christmas by Stampington & Company and the Handmade by is from Anna Griffin.

The postcard and journal spot are made from a heavy watercolor paper from Arches. I used several layers of ink that I watered down and sprayed using a small mister. I used Broken China distress ink, Tempting Turquoise and Brilliant Blue craft inks from Stampin' Up. I used Vintage Photo distress ink for the edges as well as a light wash across the whole thing. The ballerina stamp is from En Pointe by Stampin' Up. The Artist stamp is from French Market and the Eiffel Tower is from Small Paris.
I had so much fun making this tag. i can't wait to get the tags from everyone else.
Until next time. Happy creating.

My Second Mini

Hello Everyone,

The slide show at the bottom of the page is of my second mini. It was a baby album for my friend Melissa. It was for a boy so no bling. Well, I did put some blue bling on the front cover. It is an envelope pocket album which I learned to make from a youtube tutorial by Marion at apieceofcraftdotcom http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hj85KIIAU4U. I used several different paper lines including K and Co., Cosmo Cricket and Jennie Bowlin. I distressed all of the edges using Tim Holtz distress inks in fired brick and black soot. The photo frames were chipboard that I painted red and black then covered with three coats of UTEE.

Thanks for the visit and happy scrappin,
Lela
Hello Everyone,
These are photos of my first mini. I made it for my friend Janet. It is a paperbag mini with a tea/vintage theme. I used the wonderful youtube video tutorial done by Laura at Follow the Paper Trail http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAcsKl87Ryg. She creates the most awesome techniques.

I used corrugated cardboard for a cover. I used Tim Holtz Distress inks throughout the mini.

The cup is only partially attached so a photo can slide behind.

This is a mini journal that I placed in a mini bag on one of the pages.

These are a couple of tags.

I used K and Co.'s Classic K Designer paper. It was so much fun, I had to do another. I'll post photos of that one a little later.

Bye for now. Happy creating,
Lela

Taa-Daa!

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post on my new blog. I am primarily a card maker who has stepped into the world of mini books, tags and mixed media. This blog world is a new one for me so I hope everyone will be patient as I explore it. Anyone with suggestions, please comment. I will be using the blog to showcase my art and my process.

I am going to offer some blog candy when I reach 25 followers so be on the lookout for that.

I'm so excited to have this method of getting my art out there.

Thanks for the visit and happy creating,
Lela
